International Women’s Day Celebration of CPM Sri Lanka - 2021
#ChooseToChallenge; Role of Professional Women
Yet once again the International Women's Day (March 8) has come round to make us aware of women and their social boundaries.
The United States Federal Glass Ceiling Commission defines the glass ceiling as "the unseen, yet unbreachable barrier that keeps minorities and women from rising to the upper rungs of the corporate ladder, regardless of their qualifications or achievements."
The term "Glass ceiling was first used by Marylyn Loden during a 1978 speech”. Today in the 21st century, society has come a long way in establishing gender equality. Yet, nevertheless the day is used as a measure of progress when organisations look back on new challenges and developments in Women's Rights.
Thus, CPM Sri Lanka too has invited eight of its lady members, signifying the date, to express what they can articulate on the subject. -

Reskilling and Upskilling for a future-ready workforce
Today organisations are facing continuous change caused by digital transformation and the current pandemic. It is imperative for organisations to engage in reskilling and upskilling their employees by developing new skills and enabling them to be better at their jobs and filling critical gaps, a prime responsibility of HR. Organisations must adopt measures essential to close the increasing skills gap. -
